  • ATTENTION GENEVA COUNTY SCHOOLS FAMILIES

In response to the COVIN-19 pandemic, our administrative staff met today to discuss the many challenges that have begun to arise. Our first priority has been and will continue to be the health and safety of our students. To ensure we are able to keep this a priority, we are forced to make tough decisions. We fully understand the challenges these decisions make for our communities. We are committed to keeping you informed with the latest information that affects your child and our schools.

With that in mind, Geneva County Schools will be open on Monday, March 16 and Tuesday, March 17 as usual. All students and staff will be screened by the school nurses. Any person with a temperature of 99 or higher or anyone with respiratory symptoms will be isolated and sent home. Students who are absent on these days will be excused, per the State Dept. of Education.
Students will not report to school after Tuesday. Guidance on academic assignments will be forthcoming.

On Wednesday, March 18, all school staff will report to work, as usual.

We will be serving curbside meals at each high school on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of this week. The pick up time will be 10:30-11:30. Refer to the fliers for pickup information. Elementary and middle school students will pick up their meals at the high schools.

March 23-27 we are observing our previously scheduled spring break so teachers and staff will not be available to serve meals.

Beginning the week of March 30, we will resume making curbside meals available at each high school for all students who are 18 and under. Elementary and middle school students will pick up their meals at the high school.

After Tuesday, there will be no athletic events, practices, proms, or any school based events. Anything scheduled during the times we are closed will be postponed until a later time.

    So to recap:
    • Students come to school Monday and Tuesday of this week
    • Curbside meals available this week on Wednesday-Friday
    • No school or curbside meals during spring break (March 23-27)
    • Curbside meals the week of March 30-April 3

Please continue to follow our website and Facebook page for the latest information. We are expecting another update this evening from the State Department of Education. Please understand that we make updates available as soon as we receive them. We ask for your understanding and patience as things may change rapidly that are beyond our control.
