Hello parents, guardians, and students! Welcome to fourth grade Math! I am excited to get to know each of you and work with you this school year. I want to take this time to introduce myself and give you a little information about myself, as well as how Math class will run this year. Having good communication is important for students to have a great experience in fourth grade Math.
First of all, a little bit about myself- I am married to David, a pilot at Ft. Rucker, and we have four children. My oldest, Hunter, is a Sophomore in college, Jonathan is a Senior at Enterprise High, Drew is a Freshman at Enterprise High, and Megan is ten years old and is going into the fifth grade. We love to spend time together when we get the chance and travel. I love to read and swim in my spare time. I have a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from Troy University. This is my second year teaching. I taught fourth grade Reading and Social Studies last year, and I am excited to get to teach Math this year! I love Math and hope to instill a love (or at least a like) of Math in my students.
I encourage you to be a part of your child's education and welcome you in our classroom. I look forward to getting to know you and your child as we make this journey together.
Renaissance Star Math scores give me a snapshot of achievement at a specific point in time. Students will be taking the Star Math test monthly on their Chrome Books in order to track their growth and progress throughout the year. I expect that students will show progress throughout the year.
Global Scholar: Global Scholar is a test that students will take in the fall, winter, and at the end of the year. This is the state test and is very important that students take this test seriously. This test will also show growth from the beginning, middle and end of the year.
Communication is very important for students. I will be using notes, emails, phone calls, as well as Class Dojo and Remind throughout the year to communicate. The quickest and easiest way to communicate with me throughout the day is through Remind. Please sign up to receive Remind messages by texting @9g2a42 to 81010. I will post announcements, reminders, homework, etc on Remind.
Students have planners that homework will be written down in daily. Students will have Math homework on a daily basis. Usually only a few problems will be assigned each night. With Math, practice makes perfect, and it is important that students do their homework to practice the skills learned in class each day. We will go over homework the next day and clarify any questions then.
I look forward to working with you and making this an awesome year!!
