Title IV, Part A - Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities

The purpose of the Safe and Drug Free Schools Program is to foster a safe and drug-free learning environment that supports academic achievement.

The Safe and Drug Free Schools Program (SDFS) is a federally funded initiative which supports programs that prevent violence in and around schools; that prevent the illegal use of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs; that involve parents and communities; and that are coordinated with related Federal, State, school, and community efforts and resources.

Parents Are Important

This is the most important fact you should know:  Kids who learn from their parents about the dangers of tobacco, underage drinking, marijuana, and other harmful substances are less likely to use.  You have the power to keep the child you love safe, healthy, and drug-free.  Parents teach your kids that they are Too Cool To Do Drugs.

Tips for Parents:  (1) Make you no use position clear  (2) Set Clear Rules (3) Be Firm and consistent (4) Open an on-going conversation (5) Be a good Role Model   (6) Be Honest and Loving

It is our hope that every school in Geneva County will be free of drugs and violence and the unauthorized presence of firearms and offer a disciplined environment that is conductive to learning.
