A MESSAGE FROM GENEVA COUNTY SCHOOL'S SUPERINTENDENT:

• Parents and Students,

  Geneva County Schools has finalized our plan for completing the 2019-2020 school year amid the COVID-19 crisis. Our Superintendent, Mrs. Becky Birdsong, is pleased to be able to share this information with you in video format.

  Here are the highlights of the plan:
  -Stay home, stay safe, take care of your families
  -Principals are currently working on a list of students who are failing.
  Students who are passing for the year will not have any more grades taken. They can choose to continue learning for the remainder of the year.
  -No 4th nine weeks grades will be given for any student.
  -Final grades for students in grades K-5 will be determined by averaging the first, second and third nine weeks grades together.
  -Final grades for students in grades 6-12 will be determined by averaging the first semester grade with the third nine weeks average.
  -Homeroom teachers will call their students / parents this week and talk with them. This is how we will gather info about who has internet and who doesn't. This is also when you will know if your child is passing or failing.
  -For students who are failing, teachers will reteach standards the student did not master previously in the year. Students will be assessed or tested again on this content. The goal is to give all students the opportunity to pass!
  -Teachers of all subject areas will determine the most important standards for the remaining of the year. No more than 3 standards will be covered. Teachers will make videos or paper packets to teach these standards. They will post them to google classroom, Facebook, etc.
  -Teachers will have office hours where parents and students may contact them. The office hours are Monday - Thursday 9:00 until 2:00. Parents may call or email the teachers.
  -Dual enrollment courses offered on the campus of Geneva Regional ---Career Tech Center (G-TECH) will adhere to all Post-Secondary and Institutions of Higher Learning requirements and guidance to complete the 2019-2020 school year.
  * Welding students enrolled at Wallace Community College have documented welding proficiency and will finish the semester focusing on theory through the online learning management system, Blackboard.
  * Automotive students enrolled at Lurleen B. Wallace Community College will finish the semester focusing on theory through Electude, a cloud based automotive e-learning system.
  * IT and first year Health Science students enrolled at Enterprise State Community College will finish the semester through Canvas, a digital learning environment.
  * G-TECH dual enrollment students will be contacted by their community college teachers.
  -Principals will put students' belongings in brown paper bags for parents to pick up in curbside meal line (Monday 10:30-11:30 and Wednesday 10:30-11:30). This will begin a week or so.
  -We will continue serving curbside meals at each of our high schools on Mondays and Wednesdays.
