I am honored to be the principal of Slocomb High School. We are located in Slocomb, AL about 15 miles west of Dothan. Our current student population is around 360 students in grades 9-12. SHS has a long standing tradition of excellence that we strive to continue today. Our school promotes a positive learning environment where all students can succeed.
Academically, we offer standard tracts for all of our core classes, as well as, an honors program. We have career and technical programs on campus in business, agri-science, turf management, industrial arts (welding and construction), multi-media, and marketing. Our fine arts consist of choir, drama, jazz band, and marching band. Journalism is also offered for students who are interested in working on our yearbook and other publications. We are fortunate that our students have access to GTECH, the career and technical center for Geneva County. At this facility, students can take dual enrollment courses with Wallace Community College, Enterprise State Community College, or Lurleen B. Wallace Community College at no cost. GTECH offers Welding, Information Technologies, Automotive, Aviation, Education and Training, and Health Sciences.
Slocomb High School offers many opportunities for students to be involved in extracurricular activities. We are members of the Alabama High School Athletics Association (AHSAA) and offer football, cheer, girls volleyball, boys and girls basketball, bowling, baseball, softball, and golf. Our marching band is available to students in the 8th-12th grades. Students may audition for choir and drama in grades 9-12. We also have many clubs that students can be a part of to enhance their high school experience.
We are a true community school. Many local businesses and families support our programs and local organizations assist our school with many needs. Our Alumni Association is a key group that helps our teachers and students to strive for excellence and grant them with supplies and other needs to promote learning. Our Athletic Association promotes all of our athletic programs and assists with fundraising efforts to help maintain and improve facilities and to provide student athletes with the necessary equipment needed to participate. Our community partners play an enormous role in the success of our students and our school.
At Slocomb High School, students have the opportunity to take advantage of a high quality education while being involved in many school related organizations or teams. Parents are able to support and promote our programs by being involved and ensuring our success. Thank you for taking the time to visit our website. If you have any questions or would like to visit our campus, please don't hesitate to call me at (334) 886-2008. I will be glad to help you in any way that I can. Go Redtops!
