Welcome to Geneva County Schools


  The mission of the Geneva County School System, in partnership with its parents and community, is to educate all students in a safe, supportive, challenging environment where they can learn to be responsible and productive citizens of a culturally diverse society.


In preparation for our strategic planning project and as a part of our on-going system improvement effort, we are reviewing and updating our system mission statement, guiding principles, and long range goals. Please take one or more of the following surveys by December 5 so that your responses can be considered as we move forward with the completion of a five-year strategic plan. Your responses are anonymous, the survey should take about 15 minutes or less to complete, and survey results will be included in our final strategic plan documents. Midyear 2014 Administration

The Geneva County School System will administer the Alabama High School Graduation Exam (AHSGE) December 1 - 5, 2014; this includes Slocomb High School, Geneva County High School and Samson High School.

Any student that plans to participate in the test administration MUST register by contacting Sherri Winingham at 334-248-1297, no later than 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2014.

The specific test sections will be administered as follows:

Monday, December 1 – Language

Tuesday, December 2 – Reading 

Wednesday, December 3 – Math 

Thursday, December 4 – Social Studies 

Friday, December 5 – Biology 

Any first time 9th grader in the 2009-2010 school year, and any year before, that has completed all coursework and credits required for the Alabama High School Diploma, and needs to pass any section of the Alabama High School Graduation Exam (AHSGE) may participate.  

The Alabama High School Graduation Exam (AHSGE) is no longer a diploma requirement for any student who entered 9th grade for the first time in the 2010-2011 school year, or later; however, any student in the 2010-2011 cohort whose transcript reflects a “not attempted” or a failed status in one or more subject areas may continue to take the appropriate test(s).
